P.A.W.S. University offers a 6 week prep course reviewing and practicing the S.T.A.R. Puppy test items as well as building a strong owner - puppy relationship!
On the 6th week, and in person S.T.A.R. Puppy test will be administered and with your puppy's successful completion of the test, your puppy will be an official AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy!!
Please note: S.T.A.R. Puppy is only for puppies 1 year or younger!

Test 1: Allows (in any position) petting by a person other than the owner
Test 2: Grooming-Allows owner handling and brief exam (ears, feet)
Test 3: Walks on a Leash-Follows owner on lead in a straight line (15 steps)
Test 4: Walks by other people-Walks on leash past other people 5-ft away
Test 5: Sits on command-Owner may use a food lure
Test 6: Down on command-Owner may use a food lure
Test 7: Comes to owner from 5-ft when name is called
Test 8: Reaction to Distractions-distractions are presented 15-ft away
Test 9: Stay on leash with another person (owner walks 10 steps and returns)
